Soccer-Garlic not to J-League's taste as Ganaha banned
TOKYO, May 8 (Reuters) - Japan striker Kazuki Ganaha was banned for six games on Tuesday for taking a garlic intravenous infusion to cure a bout of influenza.
The Kawasaki Frontale player was put on an IV drip by the J-League club's doctor last month in violation of the Japanese league's anti-doping rules.
Although Ganaha did not take a banned substance, intravenous treatment is banned by Japan's domestic league in line with world soccer's governing body FIFA.
The 26-year-old has already missed four matches after Frontale suspended him until the J-League disciplinary committee decided what punishment to hand down.
The J-League also fined Frontale 10 million yen ($83,438) for breaking its anti-doping rules.
