FACTBOX - Earthquake aid pledges

(Reuters) - The death toll from the quake that hit China's Sichuan province on May 12 rose to more than 40,000 the State Council said on Wednesday.

Here are some of the aid pledges that have been made to date.

CHINA:

- 16 billion yuan (1.2 billion pounds) donated by Wednesday, and 1.7 billion yuan forwarded to the earthquake-affected areas.

- Sports star and Houston Rockets centre Yao Ming gave two million yuan and half a million yuan to the Red Cross Society of China.

- Hong Kong: HK$316 million (20 million pounds) from the government, after further HK$5 million announced Tuesday. HK$30 million from the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

- Macau: 100 million yuan from the government and 10 million yuan from the Macau Foundation.

COUNTRIES AND REGIONS:
