Soccer-Japan's Takahara completes Urawa Reds switch
TOKYO, Jan 11 (Reuters) - Japan's Urawa Reds completed the signing of World Cup striker Naohiro Takahara from German club Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday.
The 28-year-old agreed to join Asian champions Urawa on a three-year deal following a difficult few months in his second season at Bundesliga side Frankfurt.
"There were things I didn't agree with at Frankfurt in terms of the coach's style of play and selection policy," Takahara told reporters after being presented with the number seven shirt.
"But Urawa is the sort of club where I can continue to improve as a player. It's a tough environment with high standards but that's why I chose it."
Takahara, who joined the Reds for a fee of around $1.7 million, established himself in Europe at Hamburg from 2002 to 2006.
However, the former Boca Juniors striker had suffered a dip in form at Frankfurt after a solid first season with the club. (Reporting by Alastair Himmer; Editing by Peter Rutherford)
