INSTANT VIEW - Thai court rules PM Samak must quit

BANGKOK (Reuters) - A Thai court said on Tuesday Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej must step down because he violated the constitution by hosting TV cooking shows while in office.

However, immediately after the announcement, a top official said the ruling People Power Party would renominate Samak as premier, despite the court's decision.

SECURITIES:

"The market reaction is not going to be huge. Whether he's in or he's out, investors are dying to move on.

"Are foreigners pulling out? I think there's really not much left anyway. Most people have been selling to cut losses and hold cash for quite some time while big foreign funds also feel the need to hedge risk at a (uncertain) time like this.

"So with that in mind, there isn't going to be a big, dramatic drop because what's happening with the politics now is already in the (share) price.  Continued...
