Briefs-England to play first India test in Ahmedabad

April 30 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the world:

Cricket - England's first test on this year's tour of India will be played in Ahmedabad, the Indian board (BCCI) announced on Wednesday. The final test of the two-match series will be staged in Mumbai while the seven one-day internationals will be held in New Delhi, Indore, Rajkot, Jamshedpur, Cuttack, Guwahati and Kanpur.

The exact dates of the November-December tour have yet to be finalised.

"The final itinerary will be decided on the basis of logistics," the BCCI statement added.

Soccer - Nancy centre back Sebastien Puygrenier has been ruled out of action for the remainder of the season because of a groin injury, the French Ligue 1 club said.

Nancy, fourth in the standings and still in the hunt for a Champions League qualifying berth with three matches left, are already without Morocco midfielder Youssouf Hadji for the run in.

Soccer - Real Madrid have told Osasuna they will be exercising their option to buy back former youth team midfielder Javi Garcia at the end of the season, the Primera Liga side said on their Web site (www.osasuna.es).

The club also aid that their keeper Ricardo would be free to play against Real Madrid on Sunday after the Federation Appeals Committee overturned the red card he was given in last weekend's game against Valencia.
