Sept 29 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the world:

Cricket - Andrew Symonds will take another step along the way to regaining his place in the Australian team when he captains Queensland for the first time on Tuesday.

Symonds, who was dumped from the Australian team's tour of India for disciplinary reasons, will lead the Queensland Bulls against an Indian Twenty20 team.

The all-rounder had been sent home from a recent one-day series against Bangladesh in Darwin after choosing to go fishing rather than attend a team meeting.

Cricket - Pakistan will be represented at the International Cricket Council's executive board meeting next month by the country's sports minister as the PCB has been without a chairman since August.

Najamuddin Khan will attend the meeting on Oct. 14-15 in Dubai in which the ICC will discuss new dates for the Champions Trophy and also the future of the rebel Indian Cricket League. Nasim Ashraf resigned as PCB chairman in August.

Soccer - Girondins Bordeaux goalkeeper and captain Ulrich Rame is doubtful for Wednesday's Champions League Group A game at home to AS Roma after sustaining a groin injury in a 1-1 Ligue 1 draw with St Etienne on Sunday.

"We'll see if he can play but it doesn't look too good," Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc told reporters.

Tennis - Former world number one Amelie Mauresmo has decided to part company with coach Loic Courteau, according to a brief statement posted on the Frenchwoman's website (www.ameliemauresmo.fr).

Courteau had been Mauresmo's coach for six years, helping her reach the number one spot in 2004 and win the Australian Open and Wimbledon titles in 2006. Mauresmo has dropped to 25th in the WTA rankings following a string of injury woes. (Editing by Peter Rutherford)
