JOHANNESBURG, Nov 12 (Reuters) - South African Premier League side Free State Stars have been fined 150,000 rand ($20,000) after fans launched a rubbish bin and other objects at officials following a controversial league defeat last month.

A league disciplinary hearing on Wednesday also found the club guilty of inciting fans and using abusive language towards the referee after they lost to a controversial late penalty at home to Platinum Stars last month.

An assistant referee was hit by a stone when fans threw objects at the officials as they were departing the field.
