Origin says reserves alone worth $15 bln

PERTH (Reuters) - Australian coal seam gas firm Origin Energy Ltd (ORG.AX) believes its gas reserves alone are worth more $15 billion (7.6 billion pounds), after it rejected a revised $13 billion takeover bid from UK gas producer BG Group (BG.L).

Chief Executive Grant King told a teleconference that using figures from a deal between Malaysian energy firm Petronas and Australian oil firm Santos Ltd (STO.AX) announced on Thursday, Origin's coal seam gas interests were worth "in excess of A$16 billion".
