Australia's Telstra no comment on CEO appointment
WELLINGTON, May 8 (Reuters) - Australia's top phone company, Telstra Corp Ltd (TLS.AX), refused to comment on media reports it had appointed an insider to be its new chief executive, but said it would hold a press conference later on Friday.
The Australian Financial Review reported on Friday that Telstra executive David Thodey had been selected to replace outgoing chief executive Sol Trujillo.
A Telstra spokesman also declined to comment on whether the press conference related to the appointment of a new chief executive. Trujillo, who announced his resignation in February, is due to leave Telstra at the end of June.
Shares in Telstra closed on Friday at A$3.24.
