Australia's Macarthur Coal says to raise capital

SYDNEY, June 18 (Reuters) - Macarthur Coal Ltd (MCC.AX), an Australian coal producer, plans to raise funds by selling new shares, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

Macarthur Coal requested a halt to the trading in its shares to undertake the equity raising. It gave no further details.

The stock last traded at A$6.62 each, giving it a market value of A$1.4 billion ($1.1 billion).
