Nikkei edges up 0.1 pct as exporters gain
TOKYO, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei stock average rose 0.1 percent on Monday, buoyed by exporters such as Toyota Motor Co (7203.T: Quote, Profile, Research) after Wall Street edged higher on encouraging results for the retail sector and hopes for the holiday shopping season.
But Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (8306.T: Quote, Profile, Research) was untraded and overwhelmed with sell orders with the price indicated at 498 yen, down 2 percent from Friday's close, after three sources said it will issue about $11 billion in new shares to meet stricter capital requirements and boost lending in Asia.
