TABLE-Japan nuclear plant operations (TEPCO restarts 1,100 MW)
TOKYO, Jan 9 (Reuters) - The table below shows the latest operational status of Japan's nuclear power plants.
Tokyo Electric Power Co said on Friday it had restarted the 1,100-megawatt No.2 nuclear generator at its Fukushima-Daini plant late on Thursday as part of a planned inspection. The unit had been shut since Nov. 5 last year for the inspection.
After the shutdown of the unit, 32,880 megawatts of nuclear power generation capacity, or 66.7 percent of Japan's total, are in operation, according to Reuters calculations.
Nine Japanese utilities and a wholesaler have 55 nuclear power generators for commercial use, with a total generating capacity of 49,315 megawatts, including Chubu Electric Power Co's No.1 and No.2 units that are slated for decommissioning.
Chubu announced plans in December to scrap the No.1 and 2 nuclear reactors at its sole Hamaoka plant and replace them with a new No. 6 reactor that will have more capacity than the two reactors' combined 1,380 megawatts. [ID:nT303675]
Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency requires utilities to shut each unit for inspections every 13 months.
In the table below, capacities are shown in megawatts. "P" represents a planned regular inspection shutdown and "U" an unplanned shutdown.
