UPDATE 1-TSE plans to list Topix futures on NYSE Liffe
* Plans to list Topix futures on Liffe next summer
* TSE aims to attract overseas investors (Adds background)
TOKYO, Nov 24 (Reuters) - The Tokyo Stock Exchange [TSE.UL] said on Tuesday it has agreed to list Topix futures <0#JTI:> on the NYSE Liffe London market around next summer in a bid to boost trade in its benchmark index futures.
Topix futures are one of the major index futures for Japanese stocks, but Nikkei 225 futures <0#JNI:> account for the bulk of such index futures trade.
The TSE hopes to attract overseas investors by listing index futures on NYSE Liffe, where trading is planned to be held 0600-2100 GMT, extending the futures' daily trading to up to 19.5 hours including in Tokyo, from the current seven hours 10 minutes, the bourse said.
Topix futures are currently traded only on the TSE, while Nikkei futures are traded on the Osaka Securities Exchange, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Singapore Exchange.
NYSE Liffe is the derivatives business of the NYSE Euronext (NYX.N: Quote, Profile, Research) (NYX.PA: Quote, Profile, Research), with which the TSE has formed a broad business alliance.
