PRECIOUS-Gold steadies above $1,100 after NY record high

 TOKYO, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Gold steadied above $1,100 per
ounce on Friday after it retreated from a record high the
previous day on a rise in the dollar.
 FUNDAMENTALS
 * Spot gold XAU= was at $1,102.45 per ounce at 0016 GMT,
down 0.1 percent from New York's notional close of $1,103.60. It
touched a life-time high of $1,122.85 per ounce on Thursday.
 * U.S. gold futures for December delivery GCZ9 was at
$1,102.2 per ounce, down 0.4 percent. It rose to a record high of
$1,123.4 on Thursday.
 * The world's largest silver-backed exchange-traded fund, the
iShares Silver Trust (SLV), said its bullion holdings rose 183.37
tonnes, or 2.1 percent, from the previous day to a record
8,923.52 tonnes as of Nov. 12. [ID:nT75774]
 * The world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, SPDR
Gold Trust (GLD), said its holdings stood at 1,114.443 tonnes as
of Nov. 12, unchanged from the previous day. [GOL/SPDR]
 MARKET NEWS
 * The U.S. dollar clung to gains in Asia on Friday after
another sporadic bout of profit-taking in riskier trades that has
characterised the currency's eight-month bear trend. [USD/]
 * The Dow industrials six-day winning streak came to a halt
on Thursday as a drop in oil prices pulled energy stocks lower
and a guarded outlook from Wal-Mart fanned worries about consumer
