TOKYO, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Hitachi Ltd (6501.T: Quote, Profile, Research), Japan's biggest electronics firm by revenue, said on Monday it plans to raise up to 418 billion yen ($4.7 billion) by issuing new shares and convertible bonds to shore up its battered capital base.

Hitachi said it plans to sell about 318 billion yen worth of shares and another 100 billion yen in convertible bonds.

The public share offering would be its first in 27 years and would mean about a 30 percent dilution of its shares outstanding. [ID:nT23766] (Reporting by Mayumi Negishi)
