Dollar index rises to 3-year high above 89
TOKYO, March 3 (Reuters) - The dollar index .DXY, a gauge of the greenback's strength against a basket of key currencies, rose to a three-year high above 89.00 as dire financial news led by insurer AIG's record loss increased concern about the global credit crisis, boosting the dollar's safe-haven allure.
The dollar index rose 0.98 percent to 89.026, its highest since April 2006. (Reporting by Shinichi Saoshiro)
