Taiwan's UMC posts rising October sales
TAIPEI, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Taiwan's UMC (2303.TW), the world's No.2 contract chipmaker, said on Monday that its October sales rose 17.6 percent from a year earlier amid growing demand for technology products.
United Microelectronics Corp (UMC) (UMC.N) had sales of T$9.3 billion ($287 million) last month, up from T$7.9 billion a year earlier, the company said on its website.
UMC released the result after the Taipei stock market closed on Monday. The stock fell 0.95 percent, versus the main TAIEX's 0.99 percent gain. (US$1=T$32.4) (Reporting by Baker Li; Editing by Chris Lewis)
