DMO announced 37 billion pound gilt sales programme

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's Debt Management Office said on Monday it will kick off a gilt sales programme to raise 37 billion pounds for the recapitalisation of banks in the week of Oct 20.

The issuing authority has invited Gilt-edged Market Makers and end-investors to discuss the structure and timescale of this programme later on Monday. Agendas for the meeting will be published at 10:00 a.m. British time.

Pound picking up strength
