LONDON (Reuters) - Brief reports of Premier League matches played on Saturday:

BLACKBURN ROVERS 1 MIDDLESBROUGH 1

Rovers enjoyed most of the possession but struggled to create chances against a Boro side thrashed 5-0 at home by Chelsea the week before.

Brazilian Afonso Alves put Boro ahead with little more than 15 minutes remaining, controlling a high ball and spinning to drill a shot past Paul Robinson.

Benni McCarthy glanced in a headed equaliser in the fourth minute of stoppage time, his first goal of the season.

EVERTON 1 MANCHESTER UNITED 1

Everton were outplayed throughout the first half by the champions but managed to reach the interval only one goal down, Darren Fletcher supplying a quality finish after 22 minutes.

Everton keeper Tim Howard kept the home side in the hunt with some smart saves and they levelled after the break with a header from Belgian Marouane Fellaini.  Continued...
