FACTBOX - Stock index performance in the past month
(Reuters) - Following is a snapshot on the month's performance of some key stock and commodities indexes:
CRB INDEX - The global benchmark of 19 commodities is down 23 percent, its biggest monthly decline ever. It then rose by 4 percent over the week.
FTSE .FTSE - The benchmark index was down 14 percent for the month but has gained 8.5 percent this week and is back on its best weekly rise since September 2001.
HANG SENG INDEX .HSI The Hong Kong index ended 21 percent lower; the biggest monthly fall since 1997.
KOSPI - The index is down 23 percent on the month, the second biggest monthly percentage loss ever. The market rebounded with a record gain of 18.5 percent this week.
LONDON METAL EXCHANGE COPPER - The London copper prices were down 36 percent in October despite an 8.5 percent rise this week.
NIKKEI .N225 - The benchmark index ended the month of October down 24 percent, its biggest monthly fall in its 58-year history while it gained 12 percent on the week.
SSEC .SSEC - China's main stock index ended October with its biggest ever monthly fall of 24.63 percent since July 1994.
