FACTBOX - Recent job cuts of big names in Britain

LONDON (Reuters) - Companies across sectors continue to reduce staff as they respond to the global economic downturn and announce delays to projects.

Here is a list of some of the biggest names announcing major job cuts since 31 Sept, 2008: (arranged alphabetically)

* British Telecom

-- The telecoms firm announced on Nov 13 it would cut around 10,000 jobs and a plan to trim the cost of its pension scheme after issuing a profit warning.

* GKN Holdings

-- The aerospace and defence manufacturer said on Oct 20 it would reduce its staff by 1,400, close plants and introduce short-term workforce as turbulence in the automotive sector deepens.

* GlaxoSmithKline

-- The world's second biggest drugmaker said on Nov 11 it planned to close its UK manufacturing site in Dartford by 2013, resulting in the loss of 620 jobs.

This Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) computer screen image shows an online forum called "Dark Market" where it educates users where to buy skimming devices to penetrate bank accounts, how to distribute malware through spam, and buy stolen credit cards among other things. Even as authorities try to stamp out that con and other e-mail and online scams, scammers are getting more wily and finding new loopholes to exploit. The vast majority of e-mail is spam and an unknown percentage of that is meant to defraud.
