CHITTAGONG, Bangladesh (Reuters)- Spinner Ajantha Mendis grabbed three quick wickets to spur Sri Lanka towards a crushing victory over Bangladesh in the second test Tuesday.

Bangladesh, set an improbable 624-run fourth innings target, were tottering at 62 for five at tea on the fourth day.

Pacemen Chaminda Vaas and Dilhara Fernando claimed one wicket each, triggering a typical Bangladesh batting collapse which pushed the visitors towards a 2-0 sweep of the series.

Tillakaratne Dilshan became only the fourth Sri Lankan batsman to score a century in both test innings before Sri Lanka declared their second innings at 447 for six at lunch.

Dilshan, who scored 162 in the first innings, reached 143 before he was bowled by left-arm spinner Enamul Haque.

Bangladesh, who superbly chased a world record total before their first test defeat, lost opener Imrul Kayes, who edged Mendis to Mahela Jayawardene at slip for five.

The leg spinner, who missed the first test due to injury, struck with this third ball, returning three for 23.

Left-arm Vaas removed the other opener Tamim Iqbal, caught by keeper Prasanna Jayawardene for 17, reducing it to 22-2.

Mendis then trapped Zunaed Siddique leg before for 10 before skipper Mohammad Ashraful edged an attempted square cut to be caught behind for seven runs.  Continued...
