PRAGUE (Reuters) - The Czech EU presidency said on Thursday it was deeply concerned by the rising number of civilian casualties in Gaza and called on Israel to open a humanitarian corridor and on both sides to implement a ceasefire.

"We are profoundly disturbed by the loss of civilian life at a school in Jabaliya that resulted from Israeli military action," the Czech EU presidency said in a statement.

"We continue to call on both sides to immediately implement a comprehensive ceasefire to ease the suffering of civilians in both Israel and Gaza."
