Inter deny claim Mourinho punched fan

LONDON (Reuters) - Detectives are investigating allegations that Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho assaulted a fan after his side's Champions League defeat against Manchester United, British police said on Thursday.

The fan said he was punched in the face outside United's Old Trafford stadium shortly before midnight on Wednesday.

Asked about the allegations, a Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "We had a report of a very minor assault. It's being investigated at the moment."

Inter denied the accusation.

"There was not even any contact," a spokesman told reporters.

Mourinho's Inter side lost 2-0 in the last 16 second leg match and were eliminated from the competition.
