NEW YORK (Reuters) - Dendreon (DNDN.O) shares more than doubled from the price at which trading was halted on Tuesday after price volatility prompted a brief probe by the Nasdaq OMX Group's (NDAQ.O) market oversight body.

Trading was suspended with the stock at $11.81 at around 1:27 p.m. (1727 GMT) pending news, as investors braced for data from a study involving a cancer vaccine from the biotechnology company.

Trading resumed at 6:15 p.m. and shares last traded up 124 percent at $26.46.
