Corry and Lewsey sign off with win over England

LONDON (Reuters) - Former England internationals Martin Corry and Josh Lewsey ended their rugby careers on Saturday by helping the Barbarians to a 33-26 win over England at Twickenham.

Corry, 35, and Lewsey, 32, joined Mike Catt and Iain Balshaw in the lineup against an England side preparing for two tests against Argentina. All four were in the England squad who won the 2003 World Cup.

Leicester's Corry retired from international rugby in January last year having won 64 caps and captaining England 17 times, while Lewsey called time on his England career last December after winning 55 caps.

The Barbarians started the match strongly in the Twickenham sunshine with Lewsey at outside centre and Corry at lock having a hand in three of the Barbarians five tries.

England, trailing 14-5 at halftime, rallied in the second half with three tries to give coach Martin Johnson some encouragement but left it too late to force a result.

Corry and Lewsey, who was replaced after 65 minutes, both received ovations from the crowd after the final whistle.

England play Argentina at Old Trafford in Manchester on June 6 and again on June 13 in Salta, Argentina.
