PARIS (Reuters) - Virginie Razzano almost had to go topless, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga danced a jig and Gael Monfils dived around like a stunt man as a spectacular French trio advanced into week two at Roland Garros on Saturday.

They progressed without Paul-Henri Mathieu who was beaten 4-6 6-1 6-4 6-4 by world number two Roger Federer after receiving full support from an enthusiastic Centre Court crowd who chanted his nickname 'Polo' throughout.

Earlier, Razzano produced a fine display in a 7-5 7-5 dismissal of Italian Tathiana Garbin, tirelessly charging to the net.

She was lucky to preserve her modesty during a changeover while she was leading 3-0 in the opening set. A WTA official came over to her, asking her to change her T-shirt because a sponsor badge was misplaced.

"I had three T-shirts in my bag but they all had the badge in the same place," Razzano, who will next take on Australian 30th seed Samantha Stosur, told a news conference.

"She (the official) told me to play with another T-shirt otherwise I was facing a fine.

"I told her to find one for me otherwise I would have had to play naked," Razzano, who was eventually allowed to go on wearing the original T-shirt, added with a smile.

Two French players will play in the fourth round of the women's draw for the first time since 2002 as Razzano joined Aravane Rezai for the second week of the claycourt grand slam.  Continued...
