Brown disappointed by resignation

LONDON (Reuters) - Prime Minister Gordon Brown is disappointed by the resignation of cabinet minister James Purnell and will focus in the coming days on restructuring the government, a spokesman said on Thursday.

The Conservatives repeated their call for an immediate national election in the wake of Purnell's resignation and call for Brown to step down.
