Relaxed Federer hangs loose to reach third round
LONDON (Reuters) - Perhaps Guillermo Garcia Lopez should have asked Roger Federer to play in his waistcoast and tightly-tailored military-look jacket on Wednesday.
It may have done more to restrict the world number two's expansive strokes than the outclassed Spaniard.
Garcia-Lopez was little more than a human ball machine for the Swiss maestro who waltzed to a comfortable 6-2 6-2 6-4 second-round victory on a sun-drenched Center Court.
The laid-back Federer simply oozed class.
While Garcia-Lopez, one of six Spanish men in singles action on Wednesday, scurried around the baseline, the Swiss glided around his favorite lawn, effortlessly stroking winners.
The five times champion and favorite to reclaim the title snatched from his grasp last year by Rafael Nadal, would never disrespect a fellow professional but at times he appeared to be toying with the 42nd best player in the world.
Murray-Mania may be taking hold at this year's championships but Federer in this mood will take some beating.
