U.S. House rejects Republican call for energy "goals"

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Friday defeated an amendment by Republicans that would have established "goals" for making the United States more energy efficient and also would have killed the carbon emission-reduction requirements of a pending climate change bill.
