Obama, Brown condemn Iran detention of embassy staff
L'AQUILA, Italy (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Gordon Brown regard Iran's detention of British embassy staffers after the country's disputed presidential election as "unacceptable," their aides said on Thursday.
"The president expressed solidarity on Iran, where both leaders were clear that the detention of embassy staff by the Iranian authorities was unacceptable," the White House and Downing Street said in a joint statement after the two leaders held talks at the G8 summit in Italy.
