Saltman laundry service on hold as British Open calls
TURNBERRY, Scotland (Reuters) - British Open qualifier Lloyd Saltman will have to do without his brother's usual laundry services this week as the pair bid to end a 10-year wait for a native winner of the Claret Jug.
Lloyd and his elder sibling Elliot became the first brothers to qualify for the British Open since Seve and Manuel Ballesteros 26 years ago when they came through local final qualifying last week to compete at this year's event.
The Scottish pair, who live together, are joined in their rented home this week by family members.
"I'm used to Elliot looking after me and doing my washing and ironing," Lloyd told reporters on Monday after a practice round at Turnberry's Ailsa course.
"But he has got a backseat this week because mum is going to do it, so that's alright."
Lloyd, 23, whose only other appearance at the British Open was in 2005 where he won the silver medal as the leading amateur, was confident he could replicate his tie for 15th four years ago.
"I think anything is possible," he said.
"If you get into the weekend I don't see why you can't be up there come Sunday and one of the top names on the leaderboard. Continued...
