TURNBERRY, Scotland (Reuters) - The quiet and unassuming Lucas Glover said he was pleased to be going under the radar in the countdown to this week's British Open.

The 29-year-old American told reporters he was still unknown to most golf fans in Scotland, despite his surprise victory at last month's U.S. Open.

"The ones that do (recognise me) are very nice and the ones that don't are asking the ones that do who that is," Glover said on Tuesday.

Glover said he still felt most comfortable doing what comes naturally out on the course.

"The advice I got from the other guys was the only normal thing you're going to know right now is when you get in between the ropes," he said.

"I think being able to play and keep on playing has helped."

Glover has barely stopped playing since his victory at Bethpage Black in New York, the only respite coming when he missed the cut at the PGA Tour's rain-interrupted John Deere Classic last week.  Continued...
