Government says plans to stem rise in gas imports
LONDON (Reuters) - The government wants to ensure that gas imports do not rise between 2010 and 2020, it said Wednesday.
Gas imports are widely expected to rise over the next few years as Britain's own gas output declines but Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband told parliament on Wednesday that imports should not climb beyond 2010.
The government said it wanted to reduce gas imports by 20-30 percent compared to what they would have been in 2020 without action to cut fossil fuel use.
