FACTBOX - Security developments in Afghanistan, July 17
(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 10 a.m. British time on Friday.
KANDAHAR - A roadside bomb killed nine civilians, all from the same family and including five children and two women, in the Spin Boldak district of southern Kandahar province, senior border police official Saifullah Hakim said. Two women were wounded.
HELMAND - A British soldier serving with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force was killed by an explosion while on a foot patrol in the Gereshk district of southern Helmand province on Thursday, Britain's Ministry of Defence said.
PAKTIKA - Afghan and foreign forces killed 11 Taliban insurgents during a joint operation and air strikes in the Waze Zadran district of southeastern Paktika province overnight, district chief Abdul Wali Zadran and NATO officials said.
