LONDON (Reuters) - Following are a selection of comments from Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee members since their last meeting.

CHARLES BEAN, DEPUTY GOVERNOR (MONETARY POLICY), JULY 17 "It is natural for us to take stock over the orders of magnitude we might need to spend each quarter," Bean told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"In principle, we decide every month but in practice it does not make sense to fine-tune the amount we spend by a few billion here, a few billion there."

"I wouldn't have expected to see really major results yet in terms of banks being in a better position to start to lend," she told the Hull Daily Mail.

"They have improved their capital position a bit, which is a good thing. I would expect the impact to come through more strongly next year."

"We will need to sustain the extraordinary monetary stimulus so long as the economy remains weak. As it starts to pick up again, we will have to think about withdrawing the stimulus," he told the Manchester Evening News. "The timing will be governed by the direction of the economy."  Continued...
