LONDON (Reuters) - Ron Sandler, the chairman of nationalised bank Northern Rock (NRKx.L), is on the short list to replace Victor Blank as the chairman of Lloyds Banking Group (LLOY.L), the Sunday Telegraph said.

The newspaper, without citing sources, said Win Bischoff, the former chairman of Citigroup (C.N), and Chris Gibson-Smith, the chairman of the London Stock Exchange (LSE.L), were also on the short list, along with an unknown fourth person.

Lloyds declined to comment, other than saying its search for a new chairman was underway.

The Sunday Telegraph said Sandler would have to relinquish his job at the helm of Northern Rock to take the position at Lloyds.

Northern Rock declined to comment.
