Norman "the Shark" bites back to lead Senior British
LONDON (Reuters) - Former world number one Greg Norman reeled in overnight leader Fred Funk with a fine six-under-par 64 to open up a one-shot lead in the Senior British Open third round on Saturday.
The 54-year-old Australian, nicknamed 'The Shark', started the day seven shots off pacesetter Funk but took a narrow lead with a 10-under tally of 200 while the American (72) faltered in relatively easy conditions at the Sunningdale course just outside London.
Also one stroke adrift of Norman is American Loren Roberts, who compiled another solid round with a 67 for an overall score of 201.
Zimbabwean Denis Watson returned a 66 to lie two behind the lead, while former European Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance (71) and 1987 U.S. Masters champion Larry Mize (64) were a further shot back.
Tom Watson, 59, runner-up in last week's British Open at Turnberry, carded a 70 for 206.
Twice U.S. Masters champion Bernhard Langer finished on 204, two clear of Britain's Ian Woosnam and Sandy Lyle (207), with six-times major champion Nick Faldo trailing on 209.
