Van Persie sustains partial ankle ligament rupture
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (Reuters) - Dutch and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie sustained a partially ruptured ligament to his right ankle during Saturday's friendly international against Italy, the Dutch FA (KNVB) said on Sunday.
A KNVB statement said van Persie had been examined in a Dutch hospital on Sunday after he was carried off in the 15th minute of the 0-0 draw following a tackle by Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini. It did not say how long van Persie would be out of action.
Van Persie, 26, has scored eight goals in his last 11 matches for the north London club who are second to Chelsea in the Premier League. Arsenal host Chelsea at the Emirates stadium on November 29.
