Koecke also pointed to the company's strong cash flow "in the positive three-digit million euro range", but could not give a more specific figure.
SolarWorld made headlines last November when it unveiled plans to bid for General Motors' GM.N Opel unit in Germany, saying it wanted to turn the company into Europe's first "green" car company. [ID;nLJ50925]
The company has so far coped much better with the financial market crisis than peers such as Solon or Chinese LDK Solar Co (LDK.N) that both cut their sales forecasts due to the global economic crisis.
Koecke said that the company expects sales of more than 1 billion euros in 2009, and confirmed 2008 sales will have grown just above 30 percent.
The outlook is in line with analyst expectations of 1.11 billion euros for 2009, according to Reuters Estimates.
Chief Executive Frank Asbeck in December told Reuters that the company would feel "comfortable" with growth rates of 25-30 percent in sales and profits for 2009.
