NEW YORK, Oct 1 (Reuters) - Weyerhaeuser Co (WY.N), one of the world's largest forest products companies, said on Wednesday it is shutting its plywood operation at a site in Louisiana and its veneer production at a site in Georgia, as part of its ongoing restructuring.

Last month, the company said weak market conditions would force it to continue closing plants and trimming operations in its wood products business, which serves the housing and construction industries.

This month Weyerhaeuser is permanently shutting down its plywood operation in Dodson, Louisiana and its veneer production at Colbert, Georgia, according to company spokesman Mike Wolff.

The shutdowns will affect 70 employees at Colbert and fewer than 50 at the Dodson site, according to a statement. (Reporting by Euan Rocha)
