Univision to name new CEO -source
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Univision Communications Inc., the top U.S. Spanish-language broadcaster, is expected to name a new chief executive on Tuesday ahead of a private equity buyout of the company in March, a source familiar with the matter said.
Univision will tap advertising agency OMD Worldwide President and CEO Joe Uva, the source said. Current CEO Jerrold Perenchio is expected to step down.
Univision declined to comment. An OMD representative was not immediately reachable.
Uva, a former president of Time Warner Inc.'s Turner Entertainment Group Sales, is expected to bring strong relationships with national advertisers, according to Advertising Age, which first reported the news on its Web site.
A $12.3 billion buyout of the company by a consortium of private equity firms and media mogul Haim Saban is expected to be completed next month.
OMD is a unit of Omnicom Group Inc..
