LONDON, Nov 4 (Reuters) - BG Group Plc (BG.L) is making rapid progress on the development of its Tupi field in Brazil and could achieve output of 300,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) in 2012, Chief Executive Frank Chapman said on Tuesday.

The CEO told a conference call with reporters that a 100,000 bpd Tupi pilot unit would start production in the fourth quarter of 2010 and that the project partners had fast-tracked two additional 100,000 bpd phases which they hoped to bring on in 2012.

BG's partners in the field are Brazil's Petrobras (PETR4.SA) and Portugal's Galp (GALP.LS). (Reporting by Tom Bergin; Editing by David Holmes)
