LONDON (Reuters) - British telecoms company Cable & Wireless (CW.L) said on Monday it was in talks with rival Thus Group THUS.L about a potential 180 pence-per-share offer for the company.

C&W said a "put up or shut up" deadline of 5 p.m. on Monday, imposed by the UK Takeover Panel, remained in place. C&W must announce a firm intention to bid or walk away by the deadline.
