LONDON (Reuters) - Publishing and events group Informa (INF.L), which is in talks over a possible takeover by a private equity consortium, said on Tuesday it had received an approach from a third party.

Informa, which did not name the third party, said it was providing information to its new suitor but that it had not received a formal proposal.

Talks with the private equity consortium of Providence Equity, The Carlyle Group and Hellman & Friedman continue, it added in a statement.
