LONDON (Reuters) - Satellite communications company Inmarsat plc (ISA.L) said it does not expect to receive an offer from U.S hedge fund Harbinger for 12 to 18 months, when a deal could get the go-ahead from regulators.

"No offer has been made at this time," Inmarsat Chairman and Chief Executive Andrew Sukawaty said in a conference call.

Harbinger was waiting to get regulatory approval, which would take "12-18 months", Sukawaty said, and until then Inmarsat "remains totally independent".
