FSA adds four companies to short-selling ban list
LONDON (Reuters) - The Financial Services Authority said it has added four companies to the list of financial firms that are subject to a short-selling ban, bringing the total to 33.
The four companies are asset manager Schroders (SDR.L: Quote, Profile, Research), banking group Close Brothers (CBRO.L: Quote, Profile, Research), wealth manager Rathbone Brothers (RAT.L: Quote, Profile, Research), and investment bank Investec (INVP.L: Quote, Profile, Research).
The FSA on Thursday banned investors from shorting the shares of 29 financial companies, including the UK's biggest banks and insurers.
The ban will remain in force until Jan 16 2009.
