LONDON (Reuters) - Embattled UK mortgage lender Northern Rock NRK.L said on Monday it was considering "all strategic options" but said it was not currently in talks with any other party, dismissing reports of an imminent sale.

"There has been considerable speculation in the media over recent days regarding the possibility of a transaction with another party," the bank said in a statement.

"Northern Rock is not in discussion with any other party at the present time, however the Board is aware of its fiduciary duty and is actively considering all strategic options in the interests of shareholders, customers and other stakeholders."

The bank also added to past reassurances to customers who have queued outside its branches, saying it was "clear beyond all doubt that savings in Northern Rock are safe and secure".
