Carlsberg and Heineken get extension for S&N bid
LONDON (Reuters) - Carlsberg (CARLb.CO: Quote, Profile, Research) and Heineken (HEIN.AS: Quote, Profile, Research) on Thursday were granted a 24-hour extension by the Takeover Panel to the timetable for their joint breakup bid for Scottish & Newcastle (S&N) SCTN.L.
The Edinburgh-based brewer agreed last week to talk with Denmark's Carlsberg and Dutch brewer Heineken over a bid at 800 pence a S&N share and the Takeover Panel gave the bidders until noon on Thursday to come up with a formal bid.
The offer has now been extended to noon Friday Jan, 25, the Takeover Panel said in a statement.
