Prudential prices share offering at $39-source
NEW YORK, June 2 (Reuters) - Prudential Financial Inc (PRU.N) priced its common stock issue on Tuesday for $39 per share, a source close to the deal said on Tuesday.
The No. 2 U.S. life insurer said Monday it planned to sell $1.25 billion of common stock after turning down U.S. aid.
Prudential said it may use the proceeds to boost capital at its insurance subsidiary or to repay debt.
Citigroup (C.N) and Goldman Sachs (GS.N) are lead underwriters for the deal and will have a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 15 percent of the offered amount of common stock, Prudential said Monday.
